Coke Fizzes to Top of US Brand Charts

NEW YORK: Coca-Cola has punctured Sony's bubble and ended its reign atop the USA's favorite brands chart, according to pollster Harris Interactive.

The Japanese-headquartered electronics giant has slipped to second place on the list after seven consecutive years in the number one spot, following a survey of more than 2,300 US consumers.

The were asked - unprompted - by Harris to consider all brands of products and services with which they were familiar and name the three they considered the best.

And the top ten brands are ...

    1. Coca-Cola
    2. Sony
    3. Toyota
    4. Dell
    5. Ford
    6. Kraft Foods
    7. Pepsi Cola
    8. Microsoft
    9. Apple
    10. Honda
Toyota moved up one place from number four last year, while Dell dropped two places. Among the significant climbers was Kraft Foods, which climbed from ninth to sixth spot. Honda is now propping-up the top ten from its sixth spot in 2006.

Hewlett Packard and General Electric have disappeared from the list.
