Cisco Sends Out Invites in Search for Global Shop

11 February 2002

At least ten shops have received a request for proposals regarding the review of Cisco Systems’ $50–$60 million global ad duties.

The rfp asks for evidence of “a successful integrated international campaign” and requests names of current clients in the “technology, network products and services, or telecommunications equipment sectors” so as to recognise potential conflict.

The ten agencies that have so far come to light include eight in San Francisco: Grey, Arnold, JWT & Tonic, McCann-Erickson, BBDO West, Young & Rubicam, Foote Cone & Belding and Goodby Silverstein & Partners. Other known rfp recipients are Deutsch/LA in Marina del Rey, California, and New York’s Ogilvy & Mather.

Notable by its absence is incumbent Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in San Francisco, which recently resigned the account [WAMN: 01-Feb-02]. In addition, FCB has decided not to take part due to existing duties for Avaya.

The rfp was due to be returned Friday. A shortlist of three to five finalists could, say sources, be issued this week.
