Circulation Drop for UK Regional Newspapers

06 March 2002

Britain's regional newspapers suffered a 2.3% fall in circulation according to the latest figures – covering the last six months of 2001 – from the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

All sectors declined: morning titles by 3.9%, Sunday papers by 4.9%, evening editions by 3.2% and weeklies by a less severe 0.4%.

Such falls are blamed on the removal of bulk sales and discounted copies from the data in order to give a clearer picture of full-rate circulation.
