China Set to Become World's No. 3 Travel Destination

22 May 2007

QINGDAO, China: If present international travel trends continue, the People's Paradise will next year topple the USA as the globe's third most popular tourism destination.

The prediction was made by the United Nations World Tourism Organization at last week's International Olympics & Tourism Forum in Qingdao.

Currently, China ranks fourth, after France, Spain and the United States. Last year, it accounted for 5.8% of the global tourism market.

And, according to the UN tourism body, the rapid growth of China's tourism industry will see the nation become the planets' tourism top-spot by 2015.
