Carat Ousts CEO for Northern Europe

11 February 2002

Ray Kelly, chief executive officer for Northern Europe, has been abruptly released by the Aegis-owned Carat media planning/buying network.

Its is understood that Kelly, who has no other job in prospect, was made redundant after a restructuring of Carat’s European operation – formerly split into three regional wings: north, central and south. All three are now centralised into a single unit led by joint chief operating officers Eryck Rebbouh and Bruno Kemoun – the latter previously in charge of the southern area.

Kelly, who has been with the company for twenty-three years, came up through the ranks to become managing director of Carat UK in 1989 then chief executive a year later. In 1999 he was appointed to the helm of the northern European division.

In yet more managerial tweaking, Eric Drancourt and Jerry Buhlmann, former chief executive and chief operating officer of Carat International, have been respectively elevated to chairman and chief executive of the division.
