Canon Looks at Four for £30m Euro Media Duties

02 February 2001

Office hardware and photographic company Canon is in talks with four agencies for its newly consolidated Europe-wide media planning and buying account, estimated at £30 million.

Although the four have not been named, they are believed to be Carat International, Universal McCann, OMD and CIA (which handles the account in Germany). It is thought that Canon has seen pitches from all four and is looking to reduce the list to two.

Should CIA win, insiders predict that the UK account will remain in the hands of incumbent CDP Media, a joint venture between CDP and CIA.
