Cadbury Schweppes Hikes Full Year Net Profit by 46%

23 February 2006

LONDON - The chocolate and beverages giant posted a 46% rise in full-year net profit, predicting that price increases and cost cutting will more than offset the expected impact of rising commodity costs during 2006.
Cadbury Schweppes' net profit for 2005 was £765 million ($1.33bn; €1.12bn), compared with £525 million a year earlier, when the company took a £140 million restructuring hit related to strategic refocussing on high-growth brands.
Cadbury attributed its strong profit growth to a 6% rise in revenue to £6.5 billion, driven by new confectionery and soft-drink products.
