CBS to Start Streaming Prime-Time Shows Online

17 August 2006

NEW YORK: CBS Television is set to become the second US network to air episodes of new and returning primetime shows for free via the internet.

Emulating ABC, which in May launched an ad-supported free online channel showing programs such as Lost and Desperate Housewives, the CBS offering, branded innertube, will launch in September with a new show, Jericho, plus a number of old favorites.

The CBS shows will contain fewer ads than when shown on TV. They will also be shorter, typically 15-30 seconds, and can't be skipped.
