British Agency Loses US Fashion Diva

21 July 2005

Bartle Bogle Hegarty's showy walking wardrobe Cindy Gallop is to quit the New York unit of the British-headquartered agency network. Its clientele includes Levi Strauss, Unilever and Diageo.

After sixteen years with the shop, she will depart her role as chairman of US operations in mid-August. Famed for her flamboyant mode of dressing, Gallop (45), also doubles as BBH's global chief marketing officer.

The rigors of the latter role may have triggered her decision to move, given the need for extensive travel - or so believes the agency's worldwide ceo Nigel Bogle. He describes the parting as "amicable".

Gallop declined to give her reasons, saying only: "I've always been myself and will absolutely continue to be myself."

Which can be interpreted any which way you like.
