LONDON: Dominant British telco BT has appointed Sir Michael Rake as chairman to succeed Sir Christopher Bland in September. Rake currently occupies the same role at accountancy firm KPMG International.
Comments BT ceo Ben Verwaayen: "Throughout his career Michael has demonstrated both dynamism and vision. These are qualities that will help BT succeed through the next phase of its transformation."
Bland (68) was appointed to BT in May 2001 and has been credited with bringing a period of stability to the group, which has diversified in recent years to provide IT and communications systems to companies across the globe.
