Not only has footfall in the sector decreased by 10% year-on-year but price is now a major driver of customer loyalty.
Comments Verdict chairman Richard Hyman: “The massive campaign by the media and government to tell us that we are being ‘ripped-off’ by retailers has clearly had a significant impact. In response, retailers have clearly put price at the top of their agendas in terms of their promotional campaigns and this has helped to reinforce a growing public awareness.”
