THERE IS NO TRUTH in the scurrilous rumour that Cellnet marketing staff are to receive free lessons in self-defence with the arrival of Battling Ed Carter, the Canadian consultant with a punchy personality. Hot-foot from BT where his 17-stone, 6ft 5in style left its mark [on at least two marketers], Carter has been imported by Cellnet to set-up a Friends & Family-type recruitment scheme. Cowering in the blue corner are Ogilvy One and Clarke Hooper Consulting, the two agencies used by Cellnet for direct marketing campaigns. May the best man win!
