MOTORING WEBSITE CarNet Online has pioneered a new method of charging for banner ads in relation to the response they generate. Advertisers on its site [] now pay only for ads that generate a specific action from visitors. There are scaled charges for four levels of action: click-through links, two-level data capture, electronic coupon dispensing and a ‘buy-now’ option with a payment link. 'There is no need for statistical confusion', reassures CarNet founder Julian Eagles. ' For the first time we have a medium that can stand-up and be counted'.
