Australian Government Reviews £90m-plus Media Duties

Two major media accounts for the Australian government worth over £90 million ($138m; €140m) in billings are up for grabs in a statutory review.

The bigger of the two assignments is the £60m federal government planning and buying business, split into campaign duties (handled by independent shop Mitchell & Partners) and other work such as recruitment advertising and public notices (handled by Starcom Worldwide).

Both incumbents are expected to repitch when their contracts run out on November 30.

The other account, estimated at £33m, is for the New South Wales authorities, which are reviewing media buying for campaign and non-campaign duties. The former are handled by Zenith Optimedia Group; the latter by HMA Blaze. Again, both incumbents are expected to take part.
