America's IDG Eyes VNU's Business Publishing Empire

14 November 2006

BOSTON, Mass: International Data Group, a major global provider of market intelligence, advisory services and events for the IT, telecoms and consumer technology markets, has become a late contender for VNU's European business magazines divisions.

IDG has made an unconfirmed bid valued at between €300-€350 million ($450.13m; £235.43m) for VNU's entire European publishing stable - currently up for auction.

If successful, the bid would meld VNU assets such as Dutch business career development title Intermediair, Computing and Accountancy Age with IDG's CIO, Computerworld, InfoWorld, Network World, Macworld and PC World. IDG declined to comment on its reported bid.
