American DMA Joins European DM Body

08 August 2001

In a move “designed to increase members’ international direct marketing opportunities”, the New York-headquartered Direct Marketing Association has joined FEDMA - the Federation of European Direct Marketing Associations.

The affiliation also provides representation for the US organisation at the European Commission in Brussels and the European Parliament at Strasbourg

The two trade bodies will not only pool information and resources, they also plan to combine their lobbying strengths both in Europe and the USA.

Says DMA president/ceo H Robert Wientzen: “Many of the issues that direct marketers face are the same on both sides of the Atlantic. The DMA needs to have a voice in the dialogue at the European Commission and European Parliament as it does in Washington.”

The DMA (USA) is the globe’s largest trade body representing database marketing and interactive activities, with a base of 5,000 US member companies and an extensive international membership.
