LONDON: The world's biggest online retailer, Amazon.com, is to allow third party businesses to place advertisements on its UK website.
The company, whose US-based site already carries ads, hopes to cash in on the British online marketing boom, according to reports in Media Week UK.
Sales will be handled by eType, which represented YouTube in the UK until the video-sharing site was acquired by Google last year.
Amazon is preparing for the launch of a music download service - which will also host ads - and, it hopes, rival Apple's all-conquering iTunes.
