Air New Zealand Up for Review as £23m Global Drive Takes Off

02 August 2001

Eleven agency networks have been shortlisted for Air New Zealand’s global advertising business coincident with the imminent launch of a £23 million global brand campaign via local shop Colenso/Clemenger BBDO.

To the chagrin of the New Zealand advertising community, the pitch is being conducted some twelve hundred miles distant in Melbourne, Australia. It is said to include full-service networks and media specialists, while BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi, Young & Rubicam and Lowe Lintas are among the known contenders. It is not known whether the NZ incumbent is among them.

The upcoming global campaign will target London and other European centres, aiming to raise the airline’s profile and resuscitate its reputation after a raft of PR disasters culminating in the grounding earlier this year of ANZ’s entire fleet due to cashflow problems.
