Aegis Purchases Copernicus in $16.5m Deal

The Market Facts division of media buying and market research network Aegis Group has acquired Auburndale, Massachusetts-based marketing consulting and research firm Copernicus, whose clients include AT&T and IBM.

The deal, worth up to $16.5 million, brings Copernicus’s sixty employees and (estimated) $16m of revenue under the aegis of Aegis. The new acquisition will function as an independent unit of Market Facts, with Kevin Clancy continuing as its chairman and chief executive.

Aegis will make an initial payment of $6m for the firm, with further instalments totalling up to $10.5m over the next three years.
