Aegis Embezzlement Probe Continues

31 October 2006

DUSSELDORF: Prosecutors have jailed the former Aegis Media country chief Aleksander Ruzicka, fearing him a possible flight risk as they investigate allegations of embezzlement at the firm.

In addition, the company has confirmed that Heinrich Kernebeck, MD at its Carat media-buying arm's Wiesbaden office, was jailed last Wednesday. The company has also suspended two other employees who were Carat's directors of buying for Germany.

Press speculation alleges up to €20.4 million ($26m; £13.6m) could be the sum at the heart of the investigation.
