Advertisers Welcome Broadband's European Advance

Online advertisers in Europe will be rubbing thumbs and forefingers together at the findings of a new survey that highlights significant growth in broadband internet access.

Faster connection speeds are seen as a key factor in the expansion of advertising through the medium.

A survey by Dutch researcher Interview-NSS says consumer demand saw broadband services grow by 60% across the continent in 2004.

In the UK more than 75% of all internet access is via broadband connection, while over half the population (56%) has online access.

The survey shows Norway with the biggest proportion of internet users. Three-quarters of the population are able to log-on, most now using a broadband connection.
