Ad Share Increase Boosts UK Broadcaster Five

    LONDON - Revenues at UK national terrestrial channel Five grew from £1.91 million ($3.4m; €2.75m) to £256m in 2005 - a year that saw European media giant RTL Group acquire the slice of Five it did not already own.
    According to RTL's annual report, released last week, Five grew its net advertising revenue market share from 8.3% to 8.8% in the year to 31 December 2005, claiming this to be the largest year-on-year increase of any terrestrial broadcaster.
    Airtime sales were up 9.8%, three times the growth of the UK advertising market as a whole.
