SAN ANTONIO, Texas: America's biggest telco AT&T says it has signed 18,000 subscribers to its fledgling online television service U-Verse, following its launch in Texas late last year [WARC: 20-Dec-06].
The company is now ready to roll-out the service in the Los Angeles area, following delays caused by technology glitches. U-verse is a major part of the telco's strategy to compete with cable companies selling telephone services.
AT&T says it is now installing U-verse at a rate of around 2,000 per week, five times its average rate in January.
