AOL Time Warner Sets Up Cross-Media Sales Arm

26 February 2001

The world’s largest media group AOL Time Warner is to set up a new division to provide advertisers with packages that span its many media activities.

With offices planned for London and Hong Kong, the Global Client Solutions division will be headed by Jonathan Davies, who moves from his role as managing partner of WPP unit, MindShare. He will answer to the executive vp–ad sales of the group’s Turner Broadcasting arm David Dickman and the executive vp–entertainment ad sales Kevin Razvi.

Enthused Razvi: “This isn't an inventory sell across the group, it's coming up with value enhancing solutions for our clients, while developing new business opportunities for us. Jonathan's ability to look at large bits of business and piece together solutions for them, as well as his strong business background, made him ideal for the job.”

The Time Warner group recently struck a cross-media deal with Credit Suisse, which sponsored TW’s business programming and advertised on its websites and in its magazines. Davies will be responsible for extending such deals, and developing the opportunities for marketers across the merged entity’s operations.
