AOL UK has announced an internet package offering unlimited access for £14.99 per month including telephone charges.
The service will be extended gradually over the next few weeks to avoid its systems being overwhelmed by new customers. AOL’s longest standing customers will be offered the service first.
The move follows AltaVista’s high profile failure to deliver its promised flat-rate package.
AOL UK’s managing director, Karen Thomson, claimed that flat-rate access would turn the web into a “true mass-market phenomenon in the UK”.
