Ailing internet giant America Online is trying to appeal to small businesses as it battles to win new subscribers and fend off rivals.
As reported last month [WAMN: 22-Oct-02], AOL has developed a version of its market leading online access service designed specifically for small operations. Microsoft and Yahoo! already offer such services.
The new product, launched this week, is intended to increase AOL’s 25% market share among online small businesses (defined as those with less than ten employees) and retain such subscribers should they wish to switch to broadband.
Features include links to content from sources like CNN Money and Fortune, marketing devices such as AOL Yellow Pages and AOL Alerts, a 24-hour advice line, business email and website-building services.
