ABC Romances AOL in Online TV Venture

24 September 2007

NEW YORK: The scramble to transmute TV programming to the world wide web continues apace. The latest romance between broadcaster and web portal was sealed last week between Walt Disney's ABC network and Time Warner's AOL.

As of Friday, ABC shows became available on AOL, several weeks ahead of the expected launch of Hulu, the online venture jointly owned by NBC Universal and Fox. This too will be available on AOL, as well as other portals.

Under the terms of their deal ABC and AOL will share revenues, although both are zip-lipped as to the shareout of ad revenues.
