CAANZ is the industry association for advertising and communication agencies. It works on behalf of members for the protection of a self-regulatory environment for advertising and offers them a range of services, benefits and incentives to help manage their agencies more effectively and serve their clients better, including:

- Information via newsletters and targeted communications

- Networking opportunities

CAANZ is committed to encouraging, recognising and rewarding excellence, and runs a series of industry awards' schemes. These include:
- The Effectiveness Awards, for phenomenally successful campaigns, judged on the basis of quantified objectives, clearly demonstrable evidence that the advertising and marketing objectives were achieved, scale of achievement, difficulty of the task and evidence of innovation in strategy, media and creative executions.
- The Media Awards, to recognise the importance of excellence in media analysis and planning, especially in a rapidly changing media environment, and how innovative media can leverage the creative message to achieve maximum potential.
- The Axis Awards, for outstanding creative solutions.
