PARIS: French media and telecoms conglomerate Vivendi Universal posted an 8.3% rise in full-year net profits for 2007 to €2.83 billion (£4.29bn; £2.16bn). Revenues grew 8% to €21.66bn.

The company says its plans for 2008 do not include any major acquisitions but it will "continue to look out for opportunities".

Its Canal Plus pay-TV arm, Vivendi Games and African telecoms assets saw strong growth in sales and profit, but French mobile phone division SFR recorded a 2.6% fall in earnings.
