USA Interactive – the American media group headed by Barry Diller – has purchased one of Britain’s most profitable dotcoms, uDate.com.

The online dating service, which has over 235,000 paying subscribers, will cost USA £91 million ($146m; €142m), making uDate founder Mel Morris a millionaire.

The US group owns stateside dating site Match.com. Other assets include Ticketmaster and travel site Expedia.
