CHICAGO: Sun-Times Media Group, previously known as Hollinger International, has begun the search for a new ceo following the announcement that incumbent Gordon Paris is stepping down at the end of the year.
Paris has led the publishing company since 2003 when erstwhile media baron Lord Conrad Black was ousted amid fraud allegations. He will stay on the board and remain chairman of the special committee looking into the dealings of former executives.
The group, which owns the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper and several local titles, is closing its New York office and moving all its operations to its home town, reflecting the change in its once trans-Atlantic status.
H-Intl owned the Daily and Sunday Telegraph in London and the Jerusalem Post before the alleged scandal involving Black and several former associates.
They are now on bail awaiting trial charged with looting the company of $84 million (€66.7m; £45.6m). All have denied any wrongdoing [WARC News: 19-Apr-06].
