A handful of shops are left in the review for the $100 million-plus launch of the Ion, the small car line from General Motors unit Saturn to be rolled out next fall.

The auto firm said it had chosen four or five agencies to compete in the final round, among them Saturn’s incumbent Publicis & Hal Riney.

Although other contenders were not disclosed, word is they include D’Arcy in Troy, Michigan, and New York’s McCann-Erickson Worldwide (both GM roster shops), plus Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Oregon, and the San Francisco office of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

A final decision is expected by March 31.
