SYDNEY: Australian broadcaster Seven Network has bought a 10% stake in wireless broadband provider Unwired via its telecoms investment arm Engin.

The A$10 million ($8.2m; €6m; £4m) purchase will progress Seven's plan to distribute programming via the web. The company is also due to introduce TiVo's personal video recorder into Australia early next year after inking a deal with the US firm in June.

Comments Engin executive director Neil Gamble: "A combination of Unwired's wireless access services with Engin's broadband telephony and TiVo offering would deliver a compelling consumer proposition."
