A former vp and associate director of graphic services at Grey Worldwide is the latest person to be indicted in connection with an investigation into the print and ad industries by the Department of Justice.

In the US District Court in Manhattan, John Steinmetz was charged with one count of conspiracy. It is claimed Steinmetz helped rig bids and allocate contracts for retouching and separation work performed on behalf of a Grey client between 1994 and 2001.

The accusations are connected with an alleged fraud involving graphics processing house The Color Wheel.

This scandal has been rumbling on for months, with Color Wheel owner Haluk Ergulec pleading guilty to bid-rigging, conspiracy and tax evasion in November [WAMN: 27-Nov-02]. However, former Grey executive vp and director of graphic services Mitchell Mosallem pleaded not guilty.
