LONDON: Speaking at the UK Periodical Publishers Association conference, magazine supremo Jack Kliger, US president/ceo of Hachette Filipacchi Media, urged fellow publishers to embrace the digital future and to work together to ensure its continuing success.

Marketing the magazine sector's interactivity and connectivity between communities of people with shared interests is key, he said, adding that the challenge lies in using "all available" channels, including digital platforms.

Readers are beginning to expect online offerings of unique coverage, blogs and other social networking functions, added Kliger (pictured above), who also serves as vice chairman of trade body, the Magazine Publishers of America.

He continued: "Magazines have always lived in a world of consumer choice and control."
