SYDNEY: Australia's Macqauriemedia Group is expanding its US empire following the A$80 million ($66.9m; €50m; £34m) acquisition of regional titles in the Mid-West. MMG now owns 65 newspapers in five US states.

MD Alex Harvey revealed there would be more acquisitions in the coming months: "Once you have a bigger distribution network and a bigger circulation, you can afford to go to some of the larger advertisers that might have significant positions on a state basis."
