NEW YORK: Viacom-owned MTV Networks has unveiled plans to launch an Arabic-language version of its Nickelodeon children's television channel targeted at youngsters in the Middle East.

The broadcaster has linked with fast-growing Dubai-based Arab Media Group to debut the free-to-air service next year.

Programming for the 190 million potential audience will include a mix of international and local content to be supported by an Arabic-language website.

MTV Arabia, the region's first and only youth lifestyle brand, is due to launch next month, also in alliance with AMG.
