London-based Inter-Continental Hotels is exploring new agency choices via independent agency selection service the Advertising Agency Register.

Although the upmarket hotel chain – a subsidiary of Six Continents Hotels, formerly Bass Hotels – has not advertised strategically for some years, it has earmarked a budget “in excess of £10 million” for its forthcoming drive.

Overseeing the search is Inter-Continental brand vp Paul Simmons, who explains: “Since the brand was bought [in 1998 from Japanese group Saison] we have been working to improve its range of hotels. Now is the time to go out and tell the world about it." He declined to reveal the names of contestants but said a result was expected before Christmas.

The £3m pan-European account for parent group Six Continents is serviced by London agency Travis Sully Harari , while a roster of shops handle individual brands including Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.
