LONDON: UK web users have put social networking and video site YouTube at the top of the online brand league table, according to new research by Nielsen/NetRatings.

YouTube has experienced an eye-watering 478% increase in unique users in the first six months of the year.

The list of fastest growing web brands shows photo sharing site Flikr at number two with 131% growth, closely followed by the News Corporation-owned MySpace, which notched 98% growth in unique use.

Comments Nielsen analyst Alex Burmaster: "Last year indicated the potential for sites utilising the internet as a method for users to communicate and share information and the first half of 2006 has confirmed this."
