US satellite-TV firm EchoStar is reportedly in talks with Luxembourg's SES Global as it seeks to build an international presence.

EchoStar ceo Charles Ergen is said to be discussing an alliance with SES, the globe's biggest satellite operator. The two firms already work together in America.

The proposed pact would see EchoStar and SES cooperate on a number of future satellite ventures, including an internet service in Latin America. This would mark EchoStar's first move outside the US, where it is the second largest satellite-TV company.

Negotiations are thought to be at a preliminary stage only, and SES is talking to other US satellite firms as well.
