BOSTON: Digital advertising agency Digitas, acquired last year by French marketing services conglomerate Publicis Groupe, has named former Unilever global media vp Alan Rutherford as worldwide ceo.

Digitas chairman David Kenny hailed Rutherford's arrival. This, he said, brought to his management team the expertise and leadership necessary to realize the goal of opening offices in the top eight to ten markets worldwide within the next 18 months.

Rutherford (pictured above), will work from London in his newly created role. He joined the Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant nine years ago, after a stint as media director at Ogilvy & Mather.
