Miami-based Crispin Porter & Bogusky has come from nowhere to win the title of the world's most decorated agency.

A unit of Canada's Maxxcom, the shop won more awards for its advertising than any other in 2003, according to the annual Gunn Report. The survey tracks over 50 national and international ad competitions to find the most-honoured agencies, networks, countries, TV commercials and print ads.

Crispin Porter - whose award-winning work includes a campaign for BMW Mini, Ikea spots and ads for the American Legacy Foundation - topped the list this year, having been only fortieth in 2002. In second place was TBWA Worldwide (Paris), last year's winner Wieden & Kennedy (Portland, Oregon) was in third, while in fourth was Arnold Worldwide Partners in Boston.

Among the global networks, BBDO Worldwide retained top spot, with TBWA in second. "TBWA had three agencies in the top 10 - in France, the UK and the US - and that's unprecedented," declared report compiler Donald Gunn. "But the winning network also needs global coverage. All TBWA's points came from 10 countries. BBDO had award-winning work from 24 markets."

The most decorated country was the US, whose points tally in the survey was nearly double that of the UK in second place. Among individual ads, the top commercial was Sculptor by Euro RSCG Mezzano Costantini Mignani (Milan) for Peugeot, while the leading print work was a campaign for Levi's created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty in Singapore.
