Plans revealed last month to create a cross-border European lottery game [WAMN: 27-Sep-02] look one step nearer completion with the news that operators in Britain, Spain and France have signed a letter of intent.

The trio will co-operate in setting up the game in the three nations, before inviting counterparts from other countries to join in.

Dianne Thompson, ceo of British operator Camelot, hopes to launch the European lottery in spring 2004, but admitted: “We have some way to go yet.” Camelot is eager to develop new products to halt declining ticket sales.
