PARIS: French corporate raider Vincent Bolloré (day job: Havas chairman) has signalled a rebranding of MPG, the global marketing service group's media planning and buying operation. Appropriately, the first unit to bear the new moniker is MPG France, henceforth to be known as Havas Media France.

Bolloré, whose holding company, Groupe Bolloré, owns a controlling interest Havas, has graciously consented to become the renamed media firm's non-executive president, thereby demoting former incumbent Bertrand de Lestapis to the role of vice-president.

Insiders say the renaming of MPG will rollout across Havas's global empire.
