LONDON: British fledgling television service BT Vision is planning to allow its subscribers to see VOD movies for free, in return for watching un-skippable advertising.

A three month trial of the service, operated by telecoms titan BT, will ask viewers to download software and provide anonymous demographic information to enable the software to target the most suitable ads - which cannot be fast-forwarded when viewed on a PC.

BT Vision is offering three free films during the test period but eventually hopes to place ads into all its VOD programming, which combines digital terrestrial channels from Freeview with content available via broadband.

The TV service has partnered with UK-headquartered media agency group Aegis to place the ads.
