Capita, the aggressive private group that snatched the TV Licence management contract from the Post Office [WAMN: 14-Dec-01], will hand the substantial advertising and direct marketing duties to its consortium partner, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

Sharing in the bonanza are AMV units Proximity London, which will handle the direct marketing work, PR shop Fishburn Hedges and PHD – the account’s extant media planning/buying incumbent.

Marketing spend has not been revealed but the total contract value is estimated at £500 million over ten years.

Also-rans for the glittering prize were Envision - a consortium comprising WPP Group, Consignia subsidiary Subscription Services and Bull Information Systems. Omnicom’s TBWA\London also pitched for the advertising work.
