CANAL+ has been a leader in Pay TV in France since its launch in 1984. This leadership is based not only on high-quality programming but especially on exclusivity with 3 types of programmes: films, sports and series.

The channel's reliance on these values has become increasingly under attack by easy access to content: Internet, VOD, expansion of free and pay DTT channels, etc.
