The Russian advertising market in 2009

Russia is likely to be the only one of the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India, China) to experience an advertising recession in 2009. As an energy exporter, Russia’s economy is closely linked to demand from international markets and volatile oil prices. The global economic slump means it will be several years before Russian advertising expenditure resumes 2008 levels. It is even possible that fast-growing India will overtake it in terms of advertising expenditure within the next year.
