Just a few years ago, start-ups such as Skype gave the telecoms industry a scare by allowing people to make telephone calls over the internet free of charge. They forced telecoms operators to cannibalise their traditional voice revenues with Voice over IP (VoIP) services. It was one reason for telecoms operators to start investing in Internet Protocol Television (IPTV). Now there is a new threat for telecoms operators, in the form of internet TV. Will new players again traumatise the telecoms industry by undermining the telcos' nascent IPTV...
