Peter Vanvelthoven is a Belgian politician from the SP.A. party. In 2003, he became Secretary of State and 2 years later, he became Federal Minister for Employment and Information.

Vanvelthoven was only 41 years old when he entered the Government and was rather unknown. Moreover, his father Louis had been a very famous politician. In preparation for the local elections, Vanvelthoven wanted to become more well-known, but in a substantive, responsible way.
